1. I am a new customer.  How do I get started?

We recommend you contact us to schedule a free 45-minute initial overview of services and consultation. During this discussion, we can talk about how we can best work together, and you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about our services.  We also encourage you to use some of this time to ask us for advice related to your application strategy, MBA essays, or background.

After this initial overview, you will better understand our services, packages, and rates, and how we can help you maximize your chances for admission.

2. I would like help with my essays.  Which package should I choose?

We have 2 options for Essay review and editing:

i) “Essay Review Package” (our most popular package!)

ii) “Essay Revision and Editing” Hourly service

If you have completed your essays, we recommend The “Essay Review Package“. This is our most cost-efficient solution and includes up to 5½  hours of consultation. This package is best for the applicant who has completed his or her MBA essays, and who would like critical feedback, a review of grammar, and suggestions for strengthening their candidacy for the business school application. We spend a significant amount of time with your essays – studying them, making comments, suggesting improvements, and communicating our suggestions to you. We include 2 comprehensive review, revision, and comment cycles (turnarounds) in this package.

The “Essay Revision and EditingHourly service is for those who might want a quick review of only a portion of their MBA application, or who feel confident in the themes and structure of their essay, and might just need assistance with final edits or grammar, or who might be seeking very specific advice about how to present their ideas.

If you have not started your essays, and are looking for more comprehensive help developing your themes or brainstorming ideas, we suggest that you add our hourly “Essay Development Strategy” services to the “Essay Review Package.”

3. How can I contact you?

  • Packages are billed 50% up front.

5. How will you work with me to improve my essays, resume, and application?

We understand what schools look for in MBA candidates, and can help to showcase your accomplishments appropriately.

Each MBA program looks for different accomplishments and personality traits, and we provide some insight into what specific programs might seek from an applicant. We can help you understand how best to highlight your work experience, education, volunteer work, and personal background for each program. MBA programs in the US often value extracurricular activities, work experience, and employer recommendations  equally alongside academic performance, and we help you showcase your strengths in each of these areas.

While we provide guidance and advice about your essays, we will not write them.  We work with you to develop themes and help to showcase your personal story.  In addition, we will help with grammar, vocabulary, structuring, and editing. We believe it is very important that you submit your own work, and that your essays are a true representation of who you are.

6. Why use Admit Advisor?

We will not write your essays, but will work with you to help develop an engaging clear story, and correct your essays for grammatical errors.  We also know that how something is written is as important as what is written, and help you develop the right tone for your essays.

In addition, we offer a more personal approach than other companies. You work directly with the president of the company.  If we cannot answer your question, we will find someone who can.

We focus on working with International students. We work with you on a one-on-one basis to help you position your work experience as competitively as your academic credentials, improve the readability of your MBA essays, and we also help select schools that will be a good personal and academic fit for you. We work around your schedule and through your preferred mode of communication – whether it is by phone, via email, Skype, or in person.

In addition, you can purchase your services in hourly increments or as part of a larger package. You are free to cancel anytime.

7. How do you handle confidentiality?

All our consultations are completely confidential. We understand that the application process is a personal one, and we will never share your information or any part of your essays, MBA application, or related information with anyone without your express written permission.

8. What is your cancellation policy?

For new customers, we offer your first 45-minute consultation for free.

You can cancel any of our services at any time. Upon cancellation, we will issue a refund to you for any time prepaid but not yet used.  If you purchased a package up front, we will refund the unused hours on a prorated basis. See our Refund Policy.

Your satisfaction is important to us. If at any time you are not satisfied with our service, we will work with you to improve the situation to your satisfaction.

9. How much time do you need to turnaround my application materials?

We like to have 5 to 7 business days to turn around an essay (i.e. to review the essay and to return to you with comments), but we can turn it around more quickly upon request.

10. How do I refer someone? Do you pay a referral fee?

We pay a referral fee of $100 for each new candidate that you refer after their first paid hour of service.  Use this form to refer someone.

11. When should I begin?

Most schools release their essays in June or July, but we highly recommend that you begin building your application before that release date. It is not too early to start.

There are many steps you can take to start the application process, even before the school releases its application and essays.

12. My schools have not released their essays, but I would like to start the application process. What can I do while I am waiting?

It is not too early to start. There are many things you can do while you are waiting. Admit Advisor can help you with any of the following:

i) Select the schools that are most appropriate for you.

You can start by extensively researching the schools you are interested in applying to. There are many things to consider in addition to academics, school reputation, cost, and composition of the student body. Where is the school located? Is it in a city or close to an airport? What is the balance between group and individual study? Where do most graduates go to work afterwards? How helpful is the career placement office? How accessible are the professors? What kind of access to internships does the school have? What do most graduates say about the school after they have left?

Admit Advisor can work with you to create a “short list” of schools for you to apply to. We will discuss what is important to you, and can develop a customized written report of the schools you are interested in, or that we recommend you apply to. Where possible, we try to find alumni that you can speak directly with to narrow your choices.

ii) Develop a “personal inventory” list of all of your accomplishments and activities.

Create an inventory list of your career accomplishments, academic accomplishments, passions, personal goals, setbacks, and challenges overcome. This list will be the basis for your MBA essays and your career resume.

iii) Review last year’s essays and applications for your selected schools.

Look at the essay questions from each business school you are interested in. Essays often do not change much year to year, so you can start to brainstorm themes, and develop an outline of your responses. You might also take this time to get involved in activities that might strengthen your candidacy. Is there a leadership position or some work you can do that might strengthen your application for the following year?

Admit Advisor can work with you to develop a coherent essay theme, and to take your “personal inventory” list and weave it into a compelling story or essay.

iv) Write your career resume or CV.

Develop your resume or CV. Showcase your work accomplishments and career progression in resume format.

v) Begin to develop your references and recommendation letters.

Most schools will require 1 to 2 academic references and 1 to 2 work references. Your selection of the employer or professor for your recommendation will be critical, and you should put some thought into who might provide the most relevant and positive referral possible.

13. I missed the first round application deadlines.  Should I apply in the second or third round?  Is it too late?

We highly recommend that you apply in the first round. Most first round deadlines are in October, and the chances of admission are often much higher in the first round.

If you missed the first round, we recommend that you wait one more year to apply, and take the time to instead spend the time to develop a plan for your application – selecting the right schools, talking to graduates of each program, learning what programs might be best for you, and learning what the schools look for from their candidates.

When the schools release their new application for the next year, you will be ready to apply to your targeted schools.

14. Where can I find a copy of your standard Consulting Services Agreement?

A copy of our standard Consulting Services Agreement can be found here, or at the link at the bottom of the home page.

15. I am an international student applying for an undergraduate program in the US.  Can you help me with my essays and applications?

Yes. We can work with an international undergraduate student to develop your essays and applications. The strategies for developing a competitive essay and application at the undergraduate level is similar to the work we do at an MBA level for our MBA candidates. Feel free to reach out to us for a free 45-minute consultation to learn more.

16. Do you provide coaching or tutoring services for the standardized exams required for admittance (GMAT, SAT)?

We do not offer these services directly, but can refer you to reputable companies or advisors that can help you prepare for your standardized test.  Feel free to contact us for more information.

17. I am applying to Law School (or another professional program). Can you help me?

We specialize in helping MBA students with their applications. We do not have the expertise, perspective, or network to help with a Law School or other professional school application or essay. However, please contact us, and we can refer you to reputable companies or advisors who can help you.
